It's Gonna Be Easy

Release date: October 10, 2026

SAN ANTONIO – It’s not surprising that the Krayolas once again find themselves in rotation and climbing on the popular Outlaw Country channel on SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Their stunning remake of “It’s Gonna Be Easy” epitomizes the outlaw garage genre the acclaimed Chicano family act has blazed.

Atwood Allen’s tears-in-his-beer gem “It’s Gonna Be Easy” is one of the enduring and most beloved songs from Doug Sahm’s classic 1973 solo album, “Doug Sahm and Band.” This time around, the Krayolas decorate the sorrowful steel guitar with their trademark Rickenbacker 12-string electric guitar jangle and three-part harmony vocals that recall the Byrds and the Eagles circa “Peaceful Easy Feeling.”

Released on October 9, 2026, “It’s Gonna Be Easy” is a sly early birthday tribute to the late Sir Doug, who would have turned 85 on November 6th this year. The recording is also a full-circle, time-travel moment with guest star Augie Meyers (who also appeared on the original recording along with Bob Dylan) playing ever-so-elegantly on piano. Both Doug, Augie and Flaco Jimenez championed and encouraged the Krayolas.

“It’s Gonna Be Easy” follows the impressive satellite radio success of “Exit Salida,” “Under One Roof,” “Surf’s Down” and “Tex-Mex Rudolph” on Outlaw Country channel shows hosted by Elizabeth Cook, Shooter Jennings, Sunny Sweeney and Mojo Nixon.

It’s the lead single from the Krayolas’ upcoming collection, “Outlaw Garage Hits, Vol 2,” which is expected to include the highly anticipated new song “Blood and Fireworks,” the sequel to the long-ago murder ballad “El Corrido de Felipe Blanco” made famous by Santiago Jimenez in the mid-1950s. “Blood and Fireworks” is a haunting folk tale that further burnishes Saldana’s reputation as the modern day heir to Rumel Fuentes, Jimenez and Sahm.

Written and produced by Hector Saldana, “Outlaw Garage Hits, Vol.2” is a wild and wooly collection of songs which have received repeated airplay on SiriusXM Satellite Radio channels Little Steven’s Underground Garage and Outlaw Country, as well as on indie radio, college radio and NPR “All Things Considered” and “Alt-Latino.”
