Twenty Miles

Twenty miles of barbed-wire road
Tequila swirling ’round and down my throat
Watching lazy dust devils playin’ tricks on my eyes

And it was down in Lubbock town
Where I laid my baby, my baby down
In a field so green under skies so blue

Oh, this old road it’s the same road
Where I kicked my heels up and sold my soul for
Chasing after those crazy dreams and you
Yeah, it looks the same but it still feels strange
Like falling down in the summer rain
Like we did a long, long time ago

It feels like those rainy days
So warm and moist on out tongues
Sitting under the meadow trees
We’d catch them one by one
Just for fun
Just for fun

Twenty miles of barbed-wire road
Tequila swirling ’round
While the devil plays his tricks on my eyes

Oh, this old road it’s the same road
Where I kicked my heels up and sold my soul for
Chasing after those crazy dreams and you
Yeah, it looks the same but it still feels strange
Like falling down in the summer rain
Like we did a long, long time ago

It feels like those rainy days
So warm and moist on our tongues
Sitting under the meadow trees
We’d catch them one by one

It feels like those rainy days
It feels like those rainy days
