“Who writes classic, memorable pop-rock melodies anymore?  The kind the Beatles or Big Star excelled at.  The kind that get locked in your head and play on a very pleasurable loop.  The Krayolas of San Antonio, Texas do.  They’re my fave American rock ‘n’ roll band of the 21st Century.  Leader Hector Saldana has no doubt learned from Lennon/McCartney, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies and the rest — in addition to fellow homeboy Sir Doug Sahm — but he’s an original.  You hear a track and you go ‘Hey, that’s Hector.’  Today San A
